It would seem in the modern world that we are always being told what to do.
We have so many ‘experts’ who tell us that we need to do it ‘this’ way and if you do it ‘that’ way then you are totally wrong.
It can be advice on your diet, your fitness, you golf, your relationships.
I am not saying that all advice is wrong
Far from it
Listening to the experiences of other people who have been through similar situations to yourself can be hugely beneficial
IF
You take that information and you personalise it
I have just been fortunate to publish my new book with Gary Nicol called the ‘Lost Art of Putting’ and whilst this is a book about a specific part of the game of golf the message hopefully has a much wider meaning.
Whatever discipline it is that you want to improve at you ultimately need to own it for yourself
When you go out onto that pitch or to that meeting or in that sales situation you cannot just be following someone else’s prescribed formula.
This is why it is so important for you to keep track on a daily basis of what you are working on and what is getting you the results.
I have often said that ‘success leaves a trail behind’
Yet we very rarely look over our shoulder at what we have done to improve
Human beings seem to have a strange wiring in their brain that stops them doing what is working and keep doing the things that aren’t working
The self destruct button we can all be so good at pressing
The message of todays podcast is to
TAKE RESPONSIBILITY
To take ownership of YOU
And what
YOU need to do
It is not the longest show we have done but it may be one of the most important
