In today’s Brain Booster Karl explores the whole area of goal setting.

Does it work?

Is it effective for everyone?

At this time of year we all tend to at least think about setting some goals for the year ahead.

A small percentage do set goals, an even smaller percentage write their goals down and an even smaller percentage actually achieve their goals!

What is the truth around goal setting for the individual?

Has it worked for you personally in the past?

It would seem the standard way of setting goals can and does work VERY well for a number of people BUT not for everyone!

As we have said so many times in the Brain Booster it is about tailoring information to suit YOU as a unique individual.

A goal tends to be fixed, like an achievement of a lower handicap or an increase in turnover. Many brains respond to this but what about the ones that don’t?

How about the folk who set goals but then very quickly they fall off track and another year can just drift by….

How about we look not just at goals but at DIRECTIONS…??

A seemingly slight shift that can make so much difference.

A new way to look at getting what you want from life.

A direction is fluid

It has the potential to be constant.

It is something you will either do or not do TODAY

You will either move towards your direction or not.

 

What are the sorts of directions you want for your life?

 

What would it be like if you could set a direction and then STICK with it?

How would that feel?

 

During this session it will be reinforced to you the need to be very diligent in what you put your precious attention on and if that attention is supporting or destroying your direction.

How your year this year good or bad will simply be reflection of the individual days that you put in.

 

How would it be to start to become the kind of person that when you say you are going to do something you DO it?

 

How good would that feel?

 

To have a sense of momentum in your life as opposed to feeling stuck in your existing patterns and habits.

 

The biggest predictor of how someone will be in the future is how they have been in the past UNLESS they take massive action to change those patterns and habits.

This takes reflection and effort.

But if you don’t ..

You will simply keep repeating your patterns over and over to the detriment of the fulfilment of your life
